One of the oldest South Portland lighthouses in Maine is the Bug Light breakwater lighthouse located very close to the community college & the more popular lighthouses in South Portland like the Portland Headlight Lighthouse & the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.
Although the original Bug Light breakwater lighthouse was originally built in 1855, it was later reconstructed and finally decommissioned in 1942. It was renovated completely & activated in 2002.

The Bug Light lighthouse stands at the corner of the Bug Light park, a popular recreational area for families and for anglers along the pier. On a sunny day you could spend some time photographing the city line along the pier.
