Nikon Professional Street Photography Film Cameras

Nikon F100 ProPhoto Camera – this has been the staple camera for majority of the professional street photographers & reporters, including those from National Geographic.

Nikon F6 ProPhoto Camera – this is the last professional 35mm film camera made by Nikon & replaces the old & faithful Nikon F5. The Nikon F6 is the main camera in the professional street photographer’s bag.

Nikon Professional Street Photography Digital Cameras

Nikon D3 ProPhoto Camera – amongst the digital cameras, the Nikon D3 is the most widely used camera by professional street photographers. If they are using only Nikon Digital Cameras, this would be the prime camera in their bag.

Nikon D700 ProPhoto Camera – this has been the back-up camera in the professional street photographer’s bag & the main camera with many. Most photographers would keep this camera ready with either a wide angle lens or a wide angle zoom that they can use right away without having to change lenses on their prime camera.

Professional Street Photography Lenses

Nikon 24mm f/1.4G Low Light Wide Angle Pro Lens – one of the most widely used Nikon ProPhoto lens extensively used for low light pro photography. This is a wide angle lens, the one that’s used by reporters & candid street photographers & is the staple lens in most photographer’s bags. Note that this is a G (gelded) type lens without an external aperture ring.

Nikon 35mm f/1.4G Low Light Wide Angle Pro Lens – this is a new lens from the professional Nikon lens series (2011) meant for low light photography & can be used for both studio as well as street photos. The lens works well on full frame as well as cropped Nikon DSLR cameras.

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D Portrait & Low Light Pro Lens – this is a standard wide angle lens & works excellent for almost all practical purpose street photography. It works best with film cameras or with full frame digital Nikon cameras (FX cameras) where you can use the 50mm focal length so effectively.

Nikon 24 – 70mm f/2.8 Wide Angle Zoom Lens – one of the most versatile wide angle zoom that covers the essential super wide – normal – mild telephoto zoom range at a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom. A very handy lens for both street photography as well as professional nature photography.

Professional Speedlight & Flashes in the Camera Bag

Professional photographers rely heavily on flashes, especially the TTL (or the i-TTL) remote controlled flashes either used on-camera or off-camera for street photos, studio photos as well as nature photos.

The most preferred professional flashes & speedlights need a lot of care to shoot & can provide you with effects that would normally not be achieved in natural lighting conditions.
