Matinga & Yannyck Chaka are few of the many musicians who have been photographed as part of the Musicians of New York City photo project in the summer of 2011. With time I have come to know many of them personally, got a glimpse of their life, their love for music and for many, their struggle to keep music alive.
The Musicians of New York City project is photographed mostly using Nikon film & digital professional camera gears & mostly using various wide angle & Nikon portrait lenses. The entire gallery is done exclusively in Black & White (they are not digitally desaturated!) with a few color photos in between.
The photos of the musicians of New York City displayed here are not digitally manipulated & displayed here as they were shot. Their size is considerably reduced. If you are looking for the best resolution digital files or professional prints, please email me with the details.
